2. | Reider (Reuter or Reiter) Michael was born 1755, PA (son of Reider (Reuter or Reiter) Wilhelm and Unknown Catherine); died Sep 1818, Berks Co, Amity Twp, PA. Notes: The 1790 First US Census has Michael living in Amity Twp. 2 males over 15; 4 males under 16; and 4 females. Michael was a veteran of the Revolutionary War, serving under Capt. Reiff, of the 7th Company of Pennsylvania Militia. Can't believe wife had a child at 14, so I guess second male over 15 was not a son; or he was married earlier to a Gertrude in 1775 in Oley, per another researcher. 4. | Reider (Reuter or Reiter) Wilhelm was born 10 Aug 1720; died 8 Aug 1806, Exeter Twp, Berks Co, PA. Notes: Birth and death from Schwarzwald Church death records, assume buried at Schwarzwald. There is a William Reider on 1767 Tax List in Oley Township and noted as a cooper. Name also spelled Reuter. Reported to be also on a 1760 and 1786 Tax list. A Wilhelm Reiter did arrive in Philadelphia on 23 September 1752, aboard the ship St. Andrew. If the same, then I would have to conclude the Reiders and Reiters are not related, although the swaping of "d" and "t" in the name happens often. Found a William and Michael as witnesses to the will of Jacob Gelbach of Oley. As per Guy L. Bierman, Oley Valley Ancestors Wilhelm married Unknown Catherine Abt 1744. Catherine was born 23 Jun 1712, Host “Tulpehocken” Church at Berks Co, Marion Twp, PA. Record ID 264609.; died 15 Mar 1784, Exeter Twp, Berks Co, PA; was buried 15 Mar 1784, Schwarzwald Reformed Church, Berks Co, PA. Record ID 264609.. [Group Sheet] |
