Marriage vows were exchanged before the Rev. Raymond Schulz in St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at Abbotsford, Saturday by Miss Theresa Anne Smudde, Bellwood, Ill., and Robert Albert Baehler, Berwyn, Ill.
The young people are the daughter and son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Baehler, all of Abbotsford. Mr. Smudde gave his daughter in marriage at the 11 a.m. services. Mrs. Decker presided at the organ and two baskets of gladioli and chrysanthemums graced the Communion rail.
The bride chose for her wedding, a floor-length gown of white tulle and lace over net and satin, styled with a squared-neckline and V-shaped bodice. A water lily crown of pearls and crystals held her fingertip veil and two white orchids entwined with ivy topped a white prayer book for her bridal bouquet.
Miss Vera Smudde of Abbotsford appeared in the wedding party as maid of honor. Mrs. Emily Raczykowski, Unity, and Mrs. Mary Ann Leaders, Medford, were the bridesmaids.
Their dresses of mint green chiffon over taffeta featured square-draped necklines and their headpieces were also water lily crowns of pearls and crystals with short veils. The crescent-shaped bouquets they carried were comprised of pink chrysanthemums and white gladioli.
Attending the groom were Gilbert Baehler, Davenport, Iowa, as best man, and Dave Rueder, Abbotsford, and Jerry Jenkins, Brookville, Ohio, groomsmen, James Baehler, and Jerry Shultz of Abbotsford, did ushering duties.
Following church services a breakfast was served at the parental Smudde home as was the reception later. Dinner was in the church basement and Dorchester Memorial Hall was the scene of the dance in the evening.
The new matron is a 1960 graduate of Colby High School and a 1961 graduate of the Wausau School of Beauty Culture. The groom graduated in 1959 from the Abbotsford High School and is an apprentice at the National Cash Register Company.
The young couple will make their home in Oak Park, Ill., at 104 Home Ave.
