Limb & Weidner

Martin Limb settled in Wooster, Wayne county, Ohio after arriving in America in 1849. Martin Limb bought properties in Wooster town, and established his residence and restaurant/saloon on E. Liberty street near the train depot.
Martin Limb married twice and raised a total of 12 children until his death in 1880. One child by his first wife died in infancy.
Jacob Schaible and family had settled in Elyria, Lorain county, Ohio, after arriving in America in 1848. The Schaibles were farmers in Germany and in America. Jacob and his wife, Catherine Ramsaier emigrated to America with five children aged 2-13 and had four more children after settling in Ohio.
Martin Limb’s first wife was Caroline Hartz (1832-6/11/1864). Caroline and her sister, Johanna Hartz (1823-1910), were from Würtemberg, Germany.

In brief about these Limb children:
Carl was a railroad engineer with the Pennsylvania Railroad and a lifelong Wooster resident; Will was a salesman with dry goods merchants Quinby & Kline in Wooster; Harry was a telegraph operator for the Pennsylvania Railroad and married Sina Anne Bricker; Marcus was a dentist in Wooster, served in the military, elected twice mayor of Wooster in the 1920’s and was twice married; Henrietta was a dressmaker until afflicted by crippling arthritis; Florence worked in the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office and in 1924 was elected County Treasurer; George served in the military, was a postal employee and married Laura Belle Sundy.
In addition, all the Limb’s were active in community affairs, fraternal organizations and various other endeavors.

Martin Limb was 53 when Marcus was born, and Marcus was the middle child of seven born to Martin and Maria Schaible Limb.

Activities in fraternal organizations and the military are intertwined. Both Marcus and George Limb belonged to the Improved Order of Odd Fellows, Canton Wright, Patriarchs Militant.This organization participated in military drills, competitions and annual encampments. Both Marcus and George enlisted in the Ohio Volunteer Infantry (O.V.I.) and the Ohio National Guard (O.N.G.) which drilled and encamped and was tied to the regular army
