Christian Wyss
Christian was the oldest child. After arriving in America he changed the spelling of his last name to Weiss. He was a farmer for his entire life.
According to Walter Wyss “Christian went to Ohio in 1881 and he had two sons, Henry and Frank. Frank came to the Medford area sometime in the 1920’s and now lives in Bagley, WI.”

Caught in Ohio.
Sheriff Lehner went down to Ohio last week and arrested Fred Wyss at Meyersville, in the Eastern part of that state. Wyss is charged with having embezzled $206 from Baehler Brothers, butter makers at Randolph and Cambria, for whom he worked. One of the Baehler Bros. gave Wyss the money to give to the other brother. Wyss took the train and skipped. He was located, caught and brought back to Juneau last Saturday and is now in the county jail.

Criminal Calendar.
Frederick Wyss was brought into Court in the afternoon and pleaded guilty to the charge of embezzlement. Wyss took some $100 belonging to Baehler Bros., cheesemakers, at Randolph, and was subsequently arrested in Ohio by Sheriff Lehner, and brought back to Juneau. Judge Dick sentenced him to serve six months in the county jail.

Rites Held for John Wyss, 85
Medford—Services were held at 2 p.m. today for John Wyss, 85, of Medford, who died Saturday at Memorial Hospital here. The Rev. Marvin Zank officiated and burial took place in Medford Evergreen cemetery.
Mr. Wyss was born Dec. 28, 1878 in Switzerland, and came to the United States in 1901, settling in Dodge County. He came to Taylor County in 1903 and operated creameries in the town of Medford. In 1915 he purchased a farm in the town of Medford, which he operated until his retirement in 1946, when he moved to the city.
He was married to Gertrude Walther June 26, 1907 at Medford, and was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Walter Wyss, Winnetka, Ill., and Orville Wyss, Austin, Texas; a daughter, Mrs. Flora Langteau, Medford; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Five sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

Mrs. John Wyss, 79, Medford, died Wednesday at 9 a.m. in Memorial Nursing Home, Medford. She had been ill five months.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Medford, with the Rev. Marvin Zank officiating. Burial will be in Medford Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at the Ruesch Funeral Home, Medford, after noon Friday and at the church after noon Saturday.
The former Gertrude Helen Walther was born October. 17, 1887, in Switzerland, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Emil Walther. They came to this country and settled in Medford in 1892. She was married there June 26, 1907, to John Wyss, who died May 16, 1964. Mrs. Wyss taught school in Taylor County from 1904 to 1907. She was a member of the Ladies Aid of her church.
Survivors include two sons, Walther Wyss, Winnetka, Ill., and Dr. Orville Wyss, Austin, Tex.; a daughter, Mrs. Flora Langteau, Medford; a brother, Max Walther, Medford; two sisters, Mrs. Ewald Klinner and Mrs. George Meyer, both of Medford; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Wilton—Mrs. Sophia A. Belcher, 90, King, formerly of Wilton, died Thursday (April 13, 1972) in a hospital after a long illness.
The former Sophia Glander was married to Alfred Wyss in 1905. Mr. Wyss died in 1913. She was married to Charles Blecher in 1932. Mr. Blecher died in 1947.
Surviving are a son, William Wyss, Milwaukee; a daughter, Helen Wyss, Chicago, Ill.; and a sister, Mrs. Clara Buzzard, Wheaton, Ill.
The funeral will be at 3:30 p.m. today in the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home.

John Wyss, 85, Dies Saturday; Funeral Tuesday
John Wyss, a retired creamery operator and town of Medford farmer, died at 12:15 Saturday morning at Memorial hospital. He had suffered an extended illness caused by cancer.Rev. Marvin Zank officiated at funeral services held Tuesday afternoon at Immanuel Lutheran church in Medford, and burial took place in Evergreen cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Arthur, Elmer, Fred, Walter and William Baehler and Harold Clemans.
Mr. Wyss was a native of Thun, Canton Bern, Switzerland, where he was born December 28, 1878. He came to the States in 1901, settling in Dodge county, and came to Taylor county in 1903. He operated creameries in the town of Medford until 1915 when he purchased a farm in the town of Medford which he operated until his retirement in 1946. Since that time he and his wife, the former Gertrude Walther, have resided in the city of Medford. Their marriage took place June 26, 1907, at Immanuel Lutheran church.
In addition to his widow, two sons and a daughter survive. They are Walther Wyss of Winnetka, Ill., Mrs. Flora Langteau of Medford and Orville Wyss, Austin, Tex. There are nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Five sisters and four brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted here Saturday afternoon at Immanuel Lutheran church for Mrs. John Wyss, 79-year-old Medford resident who died Wednesday, April 19, at the Memorial nursing home, Medford. Rev. Marvin Zank officiated and burial took place in Medford Evergreen cemetery.Serving as pallbearers were Elmer Baehler, Harold Clemans, John Gebert jr., Eldon Hackbart, James Klinner and Dr. Walther Meyer.
The body lay in state at Ruesch funeral home, Medford, from noon Friday until noon Saturday, and then at the church until time of services.
The former Gertrude Walther was born October 17, 1887, in ober Endfelden, Switzerland, and came to the United States in 1892 with her parents. The family settled in the city of Medford. Mrs. Wyss received her education in the Medford public schools and the Taylor county normal school. She taught school in Taylor county from 1904 until 1907. Her marriage to John Wyss, who preceded her in death May 11, 1964, took place June 26, 1917, at Medford.
Mrs. Wyss was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church and its Ladies aid society.
Surviving her are one daughter, Mrs. Flora Langteau, Medford; two sons, Walther, Winetka, Ill., and Dr. Orville, Austin, Tex.; two sisters, Flora, Mrs. Ewald Klinner, and Irma, Mrs. George Meyef, both of Medford; one broher, Max Walther, Medford, nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
