Knights of Pythias
Morgen Stern Lodge Dedicate Their Castle Hall.
A Gala Day in Wooster.
Spectacular parade of the Knights.
Impressive Dedication Ceremonies.
Toasts, Speeches and Music.
Grand Banquet and Ball.
Yesterday was an event long to be kept in remembrance by the German Knights of Pythias of Wooster. It was the memorable occasion of the dedication of their new Castle Hall, which is pronounced to be one of the finest in this part of the State. They made the day a festival, and in their energetic style created much pleasure for themselves and friends.

Their New Castle Hall.
For ten years they contented themselves with sub-renting a Lodge room from another organization, but growing prosperous, they felt they were able to establish themselves in a Hall of their own, and selected the one in Geltgey’s new Block on South Market street. This they have made a fine Hall at an expense of several hundred dollars. The artist, Mr. Charles Gasche, has displayed his taste and skill in its adornment, the painting of the Hall being his exclusive work. The side walls are finished in distemper and oil dado, the prevailing colors being drabs, relieved by a rich border.
There are emblems of the Order all around. On the east front wall are the letters of the motto “F.C.B.” in their respective colors, blue, yellow and red. On the north side is painted a life size statue of Pythias, and in the arch on the west side a similar figure of Damon. On the south is a life size emblematic picture of a Knight taking the Degree—the Knight standing in the foreground taking an oath on the brink of a precipice, with the mountains looming before him. The ceiling is laid off in two triangles, the inner portion of these a blue sky with stars. In each of the four corners is an emblem—a Bible, the Dove, medallion heads of Damon and Pythias and the armor of a Knight.
The Hall is laid with crimson carpet; and seated with arm chairs. There are four officers’ chairs of black walnut, upholstered in blue, yellow, red and black, and four marble-top tables for the officers.
Thus adorned and furnished, the Hall, lit up by gas from the elegant chandelier presented as a gift to the Lodge by Mr. Albert Imgard, looks very handsome, and is attractive to all.

The Lodge.
Morgen Stern Lodge No. 41, Knights of Pythias, was instituted in Wooster on the evening of Dec. 29th, 1871 by a special dispensation of the Grand Lodge granted to Vice Grand Chancellor Dr. L. Firestone, assisted by the members of Rising Star (English) Lodge No. 22.

I.O.O.F.
Canton Wright, Patriarchs Militant
Initiated in Wooster Yesterday With Grand Exercises
Yesterday was eventful in the annals of Oddfellowship in Wooster, being the date of mustering in the Canton Wright Patriarchs Militant of this city, an organization heretofore not existing here.
A Canton is the Military, of Uniform Rank, of Oddfellowship, all members of which must have been advanced to the highest Degree in the Order and Encampment, that of Royal Purple Degree, before eligible to enter the Canton. Lodges of the I.O.O.F. must be in a highly prosperous condition, with an enterprising membership, before a Canton is organised; hence while there are about 900 Lodges in Ohio there are only 77 Cantons. Wooster Lodge is therefore taking a foremost rank and is complimented for its progressive energy.
The Wooster organization is named “Wright Canton,” in honor of our fellow citizen Anthony Wright, Past Chief Patriarch and Grand Treasurer of the Ohio Grand Encampment. The members thus far are thirty in number, and are already well skilled in military drill, as follows.
Officers And Members
Captain—Forbes Alcock.
Lieutenant—John M. Russell.
Ensign—Samuel K. Hildebrant.
Treasurer—Joseph H. Wilheim.
Clerk—James M. Quinby.
W.H. Baumgardner. Guy E. Temple.
Joseph Kester. Wm. Limb.

The institution of the Canton yesterday was a notable affair, creating general interest. members of the Order from a number of towns and cities were present, while the Cantons of Akron and Ashland were here in full ranks, all sharing the liberal hospitality of the resident brethren, all the Wooster Odd Fellows considering themselves hosts on the occasion, lending aid to the Chevaliers of the Wright Canton to receive and take care of the visitors.
The Akron Canton came on a special train at 2 o’clock and are received and welcomed by Wright Canton. Procession was formed and a grand parade of the principal streets was made, the Chevaliers making a fine appearance in their handsome military uniforms and by their martial bearing. The column marched in the following order.
Great Western Band, of Akron
Akron Canton.
Nashville Cornet Band.
Ashland canton.
Canton Wright, of Wooster.
The march ended at the Odd Fellows Temple on South Market street. Later all the Order assembled there, when Canton Wright with due form and impressive ceremony was instituted by Maj. Gen. J.D. Bell, Department Commander, of Mansfield, assisted by officers of the visiting Cantons.
In the evening a grand banquet, given by Canton Wright and the Wooster Odd Fellows generally, was held at the Armory, served by the proprietors of the Archer House. The festivities there, dining, music, toasts and responses were in progress when we went to press.

Splendid Parade and Drill—Music and Banquet—Canton Wright—An Honor Worthily Bestowed
Odd Fellowship, like Free Masonry, claims hoary antiquity. Its origin is ascribed to the remotest periods and to most illustrious characters. Certain historians ? its inception with the date of the ? and Goths in the 4th century. Another theory attributes its origin to Roman soldiers in times of Nero, and its name to the Emperor Titus who, it is affirmed, called them odd fellows on account of their singularity. Other ? make possible its indefinite ? fix its first existence as contemporaneous with that of Adam, and there is a ? there extant an emblem in ? the traditional Ark builder is in the act of laying the corner stone of ? in some sequestered corner garden. It was established in Spain in the 5th, in Portugal in the 6th and in ? during the 15th centuries. ? the latter country it was imported to England by John de Neville and ? knights, who organized a loyal ? lodge,” which in the 18th century was denominated the order of Odd Fellowship. Its more modern and ? history is coeval with the beginning of the 18th century and had its birth in Britain. Societies, of ??? and laboring men came together and styled themselves “Ancient and Honorable Loyal Odd Fellows.” Their places of meeting were usually in taverns, and their convocations were often emphasized by considerable conviviality. It was the custom to contribute a penny per week to the poor, to aid the orphan and widow and to make certain a proper interment of the dead. Dissensions arose in the order resulting in schisms and secessions. the “Manchester Unity” however remained intact and has today a membership of 500,000.
Its introduction to the United States is attributed to Thomas Wildey, an Englishman, and a blacksmith by trade, who, with four others, instituted April 26th, 1819, in the city of Baltimore, Washington Lodge No. 1, which obtained a charger from the Manchester Unity as the grand lodge of Maryland and the United States. It is in the most exalted sense a benificent organization paying out liberally annually large sums in relief and charity. The grand lodge of the U.S. is composed of representatives elected biennially by the State Grand lodges. The elective officers of an encampment are a chief patriarch, who presides, a high priest, a senior warden, a scribe, a treasurer and a junior warden.
Wooster Lodge No. 42 was established in 1845, the date of its charger being June 21, of that year. The date of charger of Killbuck Encampment No. 17, is Sept. 5, 1846.
The Patriarchs Militant was organized about four years ago by General John C. Underwood, of Louisville, Ky., a gentleman of distinction in secret society circles. It certainly has some greater significance than is implied in its appellation and includes within its scope and objects the worth and noble purposes of the order. Its militant features, we suppose, are best expressed in its external heroic and martial demonstrations. On Tuesday all good Odd Fellows were on the ? qui vive as Canton Wright were chaparoned into the Holy of Holies of ? degree. Brigadier General James D. Bell, of Mansfield, seconded by heraldic Knights from Ashland, Mansfield, Akron, etc., had charge of the introductive and inductive ceremonies in the inner Temple on S. Market street.
Immediately after dinner the parade commenced under the direction of Capt. Forbes Alcock. The Nashville band executed admirable music. They attended General Bell from the depot to the Archer House, the air vibrating with invisible sweetness. The Ashland Canton sent numerous chevaliers. The Summit City was largely represented. Her Great Western Band of artistic performers arrived at 3 p.m. The latter portion of the day was devoted to social amusement, friendly interchanges and introductions and matters of business interest. A banquet at 6-1/2 in the evening to the visitors and the home members of the order was richly enjoyed, the purveyor being Mr. Frank Bennett of the Hotel Archer. Later on the Great Western Band executed some of its captivating and inspiring airs. After this the Militants engaged in drill under the skillful and matchless direction of Capt. Alcock in which was typified the address and bravery of the ancient joust and tournament.
In September, 1889, it was determined by Killbuck Encampment to make an effort to organize a Canton of the Patriarchs Militant in Wooster, and before the month terminated it was accomplished. By resolution it was agreed to call it Canton Wright, in honor of our esteemed fellow-citizen, Anthony Wright, Esq. The gentlemen whose names are here given were elected officers at a meeting held Oct. 25th, 1889: Captain, Forbes Alcock; Lieutenant, John M. Russell; Ensign, S.K. Hilterbrant; Treasurer, Joseph H. Wilhelm; Accountant, James M. Quinby; Standard-bearer, Adam Eyman. The splendid working condition of this adjunct to the parent order is largely due to these gentlemen. Many of the members have at various times been attached to the Wooster City Guard, and their signal discipline, aptitude in work and perfection in drill will reflect added lustre on the skill and genius of Capt. Alcock, as a master in militant stragegy and instruction.

Wooster Odd Fellows last night entertained a large party of visitors from Newman Lodge, North Lawrence; and from Orrville Lodge, Orrville. The visiting brethren came in on the evening train accompanied by the famous Minglewood band. This noted organization, which now numbers under the leadership of William Edwards, seventeen members, demonstrated by their playing that the band is constantly improving. The people of North Lawrence can well be proud of the band as it is composed not only of musicians, but thorough gentlemen as well. Their visit to Wooster was for the purpose of witnessing the “team work” of Wooster lodge in conferring degrees. The visitors were well pleased with the proficiency shown in the work by the brothers and spoke in terms very complimentary of them. At eleven o’clock when the work in the lodge room had been fully exemplified the visitors were escorted to Emil Faber’s where a banquet was served in first-class style, customary with the establishment. John Van Nostran acted as toastmaster, short speeches were made by James H. Hamilton, S.B. Hartzell, D.E. Robinson, and Prof. Chas W. Gilgen, of Orrville; Wm. Edwards, of North Lawrence; C.M. On Friday evening last a public installation of the officers of Wooster Lodge of Odd Fellows took place at their Hall on South Market street. It was a memorable occasion of much social interest. The Hall was crowded with men and women, old and young, who were much pleased with the impressive exercises. The installation was conducted in the most able manner by Right Worthy Deputy Grand Master, M.L. Warner, of Cleveland, a former resident of Wooster. After the ritual ceremonies appropriate addresses were made by D.W. Solliday, James A. Shamp and John Van Nostran. Also a recitation—“The Goat”—was given by Deputy Grand Master Warner, the matter and manner of the rendition of which “brought down the house,” all pronouncing it most excellent. By way of refreshments, an elegant supper was served by the I.O.O.F. Auxiliary, the Daughters of Rebekah, of which organization Mrs. James M. Quinby is the Noble Grand, the bill of fare consisting of oysters, meats, breads, cake, coffee, etc, etc. The following are the

1893: The death of Will Limb, age 25.

Wayne County Democrat, 22 March, 1893:

He was prominent in Benevolent orders, being a member of Canton Wright Patriarchs Militant, Wooster Lodge I.O.O.F. and the Improved Order of Red Men. He was also an active member of the Young Men’s Democratic Club.
The funeral took place Sunday afternoon at the English Lutheran Tabernacle, to which place the remains were conveyed from the family residence. Though the day was very inclement from rain and snow, the attendance was very large, estimated at twelve hundred. The Benevolent Orders were present in full ranks and regalia, the funeral being specially under the auspices of the Patriarch Militants. The donations of flowers were many, the coffin covered with various designs of floral offerings of esteem and affection. Among these were a massive pillow from the Quinby & Kline clerks, a broken column from Canton Wright, a sickle from the Daughters of Rebekah, and calla lilies and roses from the Misses Weber, of Mansfield.
The church services were conducted by Rev. Dr. W.W. Criley, after which Canton Wright carried the casket to the hearse, and the long procession of the members of the several orders on foot, and relations and friends in carriages, conveyed the body to the cemetery, where it was laid in the tomb with the impressive ritual of the Order. The pall bearers were P.J. Seigenthaler, John Figert, J.M. Quinby, R.T. Bechtel, Harry Kramer, Jos. Kester.

Wayne County Democrat, 29 March, 1983:

Resolution of Respect for Wm. R. Limb
Whereas, The great disposer of events, in His infinite wisdom, has summoned Wm R. Limb, a member of our Club, to the mysteries of another and a higher life.
Resolved, That in his death the Young Men’s Cleveland Democratic Club of Wayne county has been deprived of one of its most active energetic and useful members, and one who by his earnestness and intelligence, was eminently qualified to reflect credit upon the membership of this organization and the Democratic party.
Resolved, That we extend to the bereaved family our keenest sympathy in their overwhelming sorrow.
Resolved, That a copy of these resolutions be published in the Jacksonion, the Wayne County Democrat and Wooster Journal and that copy of same be transmitted to the bereaved family.

To the Sachem and Brothers of Uncas Tribe No. 57 Improved Order Red Men.

Your committee charged with the sorrowful duty of preparing a suitable memorial upon the death of Past Sachem, William R. Limb, present the following as a tribute to his memory:
The Great Spirit of the Universe, has, in His infinite wisdom, summoned from our midst to the happy hunting grounds beyond the dark waters, the soul of Past Sachem William R. Limb, an honored and beloved member of our Tribe. Brother Limb was in the flower of early manhood and enjoyed the friendship and esteem of a large circle of devoted friends. He was an honorable, upright member of our Order, a faithful attendant upon the Council fires of our Tribe, and a young man of unblemished character. His rare devotion to his widowed mother was the truest exemplification of his noble principles. While we submit with patience, to the immutable decrees of Divine Providence in this dispensation, we cherish the memory of our departed brother and strew upon his grave the flowers of fraternal affection.
Resolved, That this memorial be spread upon our records, a copy sent to each of the city papers and to the family of the deceased brother. Fraternally submitted.

Canton Wright has been in existence only three years and was one of the youngest Cantons participating in the drills. That they should be able to do so well is surely creditable to the men and especially to their commander, Capt. Forbes Alcock. He has long been acknowledge a superior drill-master at home and in his own State, and the awarding to him of the first prize as the best drilled commander in the United States is a high honor and one of which every citizen of Wooster should feel proud. Congratulations to you, “Scotty,” and the gallant boys in your command.
Why not get up a little reception for Capt. Alcock and Canton Wright on their return from Chicago? The command certainly deserves some recognition at the hands of our people. Let some one take hold of the matter.

Banquetted Brothers.

Canton Wright Handsomely Entertained.

A Royal Spread Royally Enjoyed—Those Present—Fun Around the Festal Board.

Those enthusiastic and hard working members of Canton Wright Patriarchs Militant, Capt. Forbes Alcock, J.M. Quinby and E.J. Seigenthaler, last evening magnificently entertained the chevaliers of the Canton. The affair took place in George Faber’s parlors which were appropriately and tastefully decorated for the occasion with the colors, accoutrements and emblems of the chivalric order. The banquet was given by the gentlemen named as a celebration in honor of the victory won by Canton Wright in the contest at Chicago. A large and finely designed banner bearing the date of the contest, and name of the Canton occupied a prominent place in the parlors, and attracted much attention. The banner was designed and made by Chevalier Fred Faber. After a season of social pasttime, in which all shared the pleasantries of the hour, the banquet was announced as ready. This was served in the back parlor, and when the curtains were thrown back a most inviting sight was presented to view. Mrs. Faber and her assistants had performed their part well, and the two tables were laden with the feast prepared for the guests.

The Guests.
Those seated at the festal board were Captain Forbes Alcock, Chevaliers J.M. Quinby, E.J. Seigenthaler, W.H. Baumgardner, M.R. Limb, R.F. Bechtel, J.E. Russell, L.R. Kramer, E.R. Geiselman, Will Aitkenhead, John Figert, C.M. Taylor, Geo. Palmer, J.C. Tieche, Fred Faber, W.A. Eberly, Adam Eyman, Jesse Warner, Frederick Snavely, Jacob A. Barnard, C.C. Adams, Will Shively, S.K. Hilterbrant, Joseph Keister, of Wooster, J.R. Johnson, of New Lisbon, and Wm. Koppes, of Orrville. The only guest was the local scribe of The Republican.

The Menu
Stewed Pickles, Celery, Oysters Ray, Fried Chow Chow, Cold Slaw
Roast Wild Turkey, Celery Dressing, Baked Buffalo Tongue, Cranberry Sauce
Bread and Butter, Potato Rusks
Ribbon Cake, Layer Cake, Macaroons, Cream Puffs
Bananas, Oranges, Apples
Coffee, Milk, Tea, Roster Export
Vanilla Ice Cream

After all had eaten, brief remarks were made by nearly all of the chevaliers. Many of the speakers were witty and their pleasant words were frequently applauded. Capt. Alcock recounted the experience of the Canton at Chicago and told of their brilliant victory although it was the first contest in which the command participated speaking of it as the one event in which he felt the greatest pride. He spoke of his wish to increase the membership, so as to enable the Canton to compete for the larger prizes in future contests. Capt. Alcock also spoke in terms complimentary to The Republican and his kind words of the writer made us feel that our humble efforts in the line of duty were appreciated.
It was long after the midnight hour before the guests withdrew from the parlors. The banquet was one of the finest and the occasion one that will long be remembered and one that must redound to the benefit of Canton Wright.

Took All The Prizes
Canton Wright, of Wooster, Drills Best At Canton.
Wooster and Canton Wright, Patriarchs Militant, won with hands down in the drill at the State Encampment of Independent Order of Odd Fellows, at Canton, yesterday. Canton Wright’s reputation as a drilled body had preceded it to the city, and, as a result, the Canton was the object of marked attention and admiration to the many thousands of people present and witnessing the festivities.
Cantons from Cleveland, Akron, Kent, Nashville, Ashland, Youngstown were present and expected to compete for the prizes in the competitive drill, but when they learned that Canton Wright had entered, all refused to go into the contest. The many difficult and intricate movements were executed with faultless precision, to the pleasure of those who were present and who frequently expressed their delight by rapturous applause. The Grand Army Band of Canton furnished the music for he occasion.
Capt. Forbes Alcock, who directed the drill was highly complimented on the skill shown by his command. The men in line were: Capt. Forbes Alcock; Lieut. J.M. Russell; Ensign S.H. Hilterbrant; Chevaliers Fred Faber, Jesse Warner, Jos. Keister, John Rockey, E.K. Geiselman, J.A. Shamp, C.E. Taylor, Wm. Altkenhead, M.R. Limb, W.C. Myers, R.T. Bechtel, J.M. Quinby, W.H. From Pittsburg Commercial Gazette: The prize drill of Patriarchs Militant went by default. Wright Canton of Wooster, winner of the second prize at the Word’s fair, and whose captain took first prize, frightened all competition away. They gave a magnificent drill, which was applauded by thousands.
Cleveland Leader special: The prize drill was won by Wright Canton, of the Patriarchs Militant of Wooster, without contest. This body won second honors at the World’s fair, and its captain first. Many other Cantons were here, but feared the Wayne county men.

The Canton placed a lovely floral design representing crossed swords and a potted plant on the grave. The Canton also paid a mark of respect to Chevalier Frederick Faber by placing a bunch or roses tied with the colors of the Rebekahs over the grave of his wife. The services were pretty and interesting.

After services at the Hall had been concluded Canton Wright, Patriarchs Militant proceeded in a body to Wooster cemetery, where the ritualistic service of this branch of the order was carried out the the graves of departed chevaliers were decorated, a floral sword and cross being placed on the graves of Chevalier Anthony Wright and Chevalier Wm. Limb. At the same time the members of the Canton deposited flowers over the tombs of Mrs. Faber and Mrs. I.H. Myers, members of Wayne Rebekah Lodge.

Odd Fellows’ Memorial Day.
Graves of Departed Brothers Strewn With Flowers.
Fraternal Red Letter Day
Most Successful Exercises of the kind ever Held in Wooster—Many Visitor’s Assist in the Services—List of Dead of the Year—Fine Music By Bands.
This was Oddfellows’ Memorial Day in Wooster, and to Wooster Lodge, No. 42, I.O.O.F., belongs the credit of conducting the most beautiful and successful services of the kind ever held in the county under the auspices of a fraternal organization.
The people of the city took a hand in making the day a success, and showed the host of visitors that they were welcome by decorating their homes and places of business in honor of the guests. The attendance from all the lodges in the county was good, the brothers from Dalton, Orrville, Applecreek, West Salem, Creston and Fredericksburg were largely in evidence. The city of Ashland sent the banner delegation, Canton Ashland, with 38 swords, Ashland Lodge, Daughters of Rebekah, the famous Ashland Military Band, and citizens, to the number of over 200. Many of the prominent residents of the city being in the party, Canton Mansfield, of Mansfield, was represented by 20 chevaliers who marched in fine style. Dalton Lodge was accompanied by their noted 11th Regt. Band, 20 members. Individual members of lodges in Akron, Massillon, Canton and North Lawrence were also present. Daughters of Rebekah were also present from many points.
Canton Wright No. 77, under the command of Capt. Forbes Alcock, and the Wooster City Band met the visiting brothers on their arrival in the city and escorted them to the Armory. The last to reach the city were the brothers from Mansfield.

The Exercises
The speaking exercises were held in the City Opera House. The different bodies being formed in line and marching from the points of rendezvous. The large auditorium was filled to overloading the lower floor being occupied already by the Brothers and Rebekahs. Past Grand James A. Shamp called the assemblage to order. The Carlin-Wertenburger Quartette, of West Salem, composed of Misses Flo and Effie Carlin and Clara and Dede Wertenberger, sang a selection in a way that deserved the liberal applause bestowed. The young ladies created a very favorable impression and will doubtless be heard in Wooster again. Rev. George S. Hackett, D.D., of Applecreek, made the invocation. James A. Shamp made a few opening remarks that were timely and to the point. Mrs. J.M. Russell, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. J.T. Keister, of Wooster, gave a beautiful solo in her usual pleasing way. Capt. Forbes Alcock then read the list of dead of the year as follows:

R.F. Hoover,
Accidental death August 24, 1899
Samual Taylor
Died November 1899
C.M. Jackson,
Died February 2?, 1900
James A. Clinedinst,

Frank E. Smith,
Member of Canton Wright,
Died November 14, 1899
Mrs. J.C. Tieche
Member of Wayne Rebekah Lodge
Died November 14 1899

Rev. S.F. Neikirk, then gave an address that was listened to with marked attention, as he spoke of the beautiful customs of honoring the dead. Miss pearl Clapper and Bechtel Alcock and Carrol F. Miller at the piano gave a duett that was a gem. This number, like those that preceded were of a sacred character. Gen. J.C. Whitaker, department commander of Ohio Patriarchs Militant, closed with an address that was fitting to the day, and in words that were full of meaning and listened to most attentively. He devoted his attention to the Militants and mentioned the dead Chevaliers Will Limb, Anthony Wright and Frank Schuch. The Quartette gave another number. Rev. A.M. Bird of Fredericksburg, pronounced the benediction and the audience was dismissed. A column was then formed and proceeded to Wooster cemetery in the following order:
The Column

On To Richmond.
The Canton Wright of Wooster Now Besieging the Capital of Old Virginia.
This week, at Richmond, Old Virginia, is being held the National Encampment of the Independent Order of Oddfellows, and it is a very great event for that Fraternity. Every State in the Union will be represented, and not by any means the least, in Ohio, especially by Canton Wright, Patriarchs Militant, of Wooster, who went from here last Sunday evening on a special train en route for Baltimore, Md., and there, on Monday evening, sailed down Chesapeake Bay 130 miles to Fortress Monroe, and thence up the historical James river 90 miles to Richmond, a very pleasant combined land and water trip.
The Canton is today, Wednesday, taking its place in the grand parade in the capital of the Confederacy, and will on tomorrow compete in prize drills for supremacy of skill. Though they have to vie with the best drilled in the land, it is believed they will return with banners flying and prize most worthily won.
Those who are there consist of the following 31 citizens: Capt. Forbes Alcock, Lieut. F.E. Boigegrain, Ensign H.E. Kramer, Col. J.M. Quinby, Major W.E. Myers, Chevaliers F.E. Faber, C.M. Rebekah Installation
A large company of Rebekahs gathered in I.O.O.F. hall last night for the regular meeting, at which time Sister Alpha Fisher, deputy president, installed the new officers for the present term. Those assisting her were Grand Marshall Sister Hattie Limb; Grand Warden Sister Pearl Allaman; Grand Chaplin Sister Linda Lautzenheiser; Grand Secretary Sister Grosjean; Grand Treasurer Sister Mayme Tieche; Grand Inside Guardian Sister Lizzie Paulus.
The officers installed were as follows: N.G., Sister Rosa Hawkins; V.G., Sister Edith Houser; Secretary, Dora M. Stevens; Fin Sec., Sister Llizzie Miller; Treas., Sister Elizabeth Snavely; R.S. to N.G., Sister Julia Russell; L.S. to N.G., Sister Hiler; Conductor, Sister Lizzie Paulus; Warden, Sister Hattie Limb; Chaplain, Sister Wolgamott; L.G., Sister Shauff; O.G., Sister Thompson; R.S. to V.G., Sister Era Ackerman. The new committees were appointed and the lodge is ready for its 1924 duties. One application was presented for membership.
Prosecuting Attorney Joseph O. Fritz, who is representative to the grand lodge of Ohio from this district was present at the meeting and made a few remarks complimentary to Sister Fike and her aides who so ably installed the officers. At the close of the meeting the members retired to the dining room, where the outgoing officers served them with light refreshments. Wayne Lodge numbers 242 members and we are hoping that this will be one of our most prosperous years, when all the members will find their way to the lodge meetings and assist the officers in exemplifying the principles of friendship, love and truth.
